process
After some initial research and ideation, I began with assembling my collage elements in Photoshop. After transferring my files, I tinted any elements to follow a limited palette, accentuating high contrast vs low contrast. I created a rig for the arm using nulls, and a rig for the claws using a null and the rotation pickwhip. The X position of the base was animated using a null layer to create overlap and followthrough in Y position animations, which were animated on the base layer.
